Garcia said “We were great for seconds on end.” I was lucky to see Jerry play for about 1,000,000 seconds exactly. Thanks for your 1,000,000 views here . Dave Davis wrote this blog for 500 posts and 5 years from 2015 to 2019. Contact me at twitter @gratefulseconds

St Louis, Yet Another Mind-Blowing May 1977 Show

St Louis May 15, 1977 was a show of firsts, even though it might have been the middle show of the Spring 1977 tour. It was the First Iko,  First Passenger, an early Jack-a-roe, and the first offical pairing of Estimated Prophet>Eyes of the World leading into drums and Samson to start the second set.  You guys are lucky as I have enclosed reviews from the local paper (Post Dispatch), which has been covering the Dead for almost ten years (four mentions in 1967 alone) by this point as well as a Dead Relix from 1977! (Les and Jerry rock as does Nicholas in Santa Cruz https://www.gdao.org/items/show/825938).

I listened to my May 1977 Box CDs of this specific show within the past week.  The first set sounds so strong and powerful, while the second set, is yet another powerhouse unique set two from Spring of 1977.

Bertha> Good Lovin'  Row Jimmy New Minglewood Blues Tennessee Jed Lazy Lightnin' > Supplication  Jack-A-Roe Passenger Brown Eyed Women Dancing In The Street

Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World > Drums > Samson And Delilah Ship Of Fools

Saint Stephen > Iko Iko > Not Fade Away> Sugar Magnolia Uncle John's Band

Of course, this was included in the first May 1977 Box Set.  Some earlier SBD music is here

From Dead Relix Volume 4 Issue 4. hey, I used to call Passenger "The Only Game In Town" too
