The Uber Rare Eleven: Uncle John's Band Split

It's not surprising that the 1984 choice for the 30 Trips box is Augusta, Maine on October 12. Prior to this show, Augusta's main claim to fame is its local deadhead, Kelly Irwin and a killer second set Terrapin->Let It Grow from 9-2-79.

11 is the magic number in Grateful Dead lore, and the exact number of Uncle John's Band sandwiches in the band's history.  The first three of course are the double deckers of PITB>UJB>Dew>UJB>PITB all with official Dead releases.  These moments may be the high in the entire career of the band.

There is only one other double-decker that even occurred, and it was at the Lewiston, Maine show in 1980. I'm not saying it was due to me, but I did ride with Phil to that show, and share with him some magic potion of the disco era.

Version #4 below was the only version where the reprise occurred in the encore, and this show is also an official release.

Version #5 is the only first set and show opener at the 15th anniversary show in Boulder.

Version #8 in 1981 is the only UJB>PITB and later UJB>PITB show.

I will post some links later
